The Power of Internet Communities
Dec 23rd 2010 at 11:35 PM
By Grant Goodman
I am constantly amazed with the power of community that one can get on the Internet. I have made many friends on the Internet who I will probably never see face to face but I know them mind to mind or soul to soul.
I have enjoyed fellowship and community feeling by using the following tools:
Blogs
I follow a number of blogs in education and about reading and literature. This has been a rich source friendship. I also have three blogs of my own.
Forums
I contribute to several forums on a regular basis and have enjoyed the communal fellowship. I love the StartXchange forum.
Discussion groups
I am the moderator for the Yahoo Group for Virginia Woolf. Coming together with keen Woolfians and Woolf scholars has been a pleasure and I have learned a lot. I also belong to a poetry discussion group.
Surfing downlines
I have been a keen surfer on traffic exchanges for years. Over this time I have built many large downlines and have made many web friends and long term customers
Social Networking
I am a keen member of Yuwie and Facebook and this has also been fantastic for meeting new friends and building web communities.Of course IMFaceplate is the best tool for this.
and finally
This is my latest new tool to explore. It is a way of mini blogging and I love it.
It is interesting that I have met many of you via these channels...
