The List

If you are completely new to the concept of Internet marketing you may wonder what the 'list' is, so a brief explanation is 'the list' is a customer database that you create yourself.

I do not wish to discuss list building strategies – everyone seems to have something to offer about that subject (myself included). But what is often neglected is what to send your subscribers once you have them?

Ok so you maybe affiliated to a marketing program, or other opportunity which will provide you with a mail series which you can copy to your auto-responder, and mail that out. No problem with that but you come back to the whole point of why you built the list in the first place, to be unique, to advertise yourself, to build yourself as a brand. This cannot be done if all that your customers receive is third-party advertising. Neither will sending constant messages out which are nothing more than mini ads for your affiliate links or products. Although this will work with lists that have been created in a very highly targeted way, within a specific niche. But for those who advertise a general mlm business opportunity, and gather prospects from splash pages for instance, will have built a list of general biz op seekers/home opportunity seekers, these are less targeted.

With this in mind it is best to establish as much of a relationship with these people as possible, while remaining a bit 'unique', therefore it is best to write your own mail series, or if you can afford it, to employ a virtual assistant to do that for you.

But the problem remains – what do you write a series of mails about?

Mine are based around my own marketing strategy, with the intention of providing my subscribed audience with tools and resources that are needed to make life as a marketer a little easier. As this is a very broad subject (so many different strategies exist, and more than one campaign needs to be set up), that it only takes a little imagination to begin to write some ideas that will help others to follow what you already do.

If you make it easy for your list customers to contact you, then you will in time gain a closer contact with some who can see that you understand the marketing process in greater detail, therefore they will take interest in how you make money, they will ask you without the need for you to 'advertise' your mlm opportunity to them. When this happens you have 'captured' the attention of exactly the type of individual you need in your business....someone who works, and better still someone who you have already trained in the best way to gain success in the opportunity that you present.

This admittedly does take time to do, but once rolling it can work very well, and when you consider how much success you can have with only a handful of people in your business (provided they all work their business's), it is well worth the effort spent in creating that unique mail series.
