The Importance of Safety Signs at Workplace

Dec 6th 2015 at 9:30 PM

The significance of safety signs is essential. These signs can also be labeled as key communication tools which let you recognize where danger is prevailing which can cause such an accident that may prove deadly in the long run. The leading purpose of safety signs is to let the workforces and the other people see that where threat is prevailing and in which areas they should sort out themselves. Safety signs are famous for their usefulness in dropping the number of accidents which may occur in a place of work like a chemical plant or construction site.

Safety signs and symbols come in diverse shapes and colors with each of them representing a particular purpose.

The content of safety signs is divided into the following classifications.

1. Prohibition

A predominantly red and white safety sign that represents that a positive conduct or activity is proscribed like "No smoking" and "No access".

2. Hazard

A cautionary triangle which is yellow with a black border indicates all possible hazards. Signs can be common and just state "Danger" or can be more precise, for example "Caution" or "Danger High Voltage". The pictogram within the triangle differs consistent with the hazard. An exclamation mark indicates a general hazard, but a lightning strike symbolizes an electrical hazard.

3. Mandatory

A blue and white sign represents that a firm action must be taken. Considerably the most common use is to denote that certain categories of protective gear must be worn. "Safety Footwear", "Hi-visibility clothing" "Hard Hats", and "Eye protection" are necessary in almost all areas of industry and construction.

4. Fire Equipment

A red and white sign is used to represent all fire equipment for example extinguishers, alarm call points, and fire pipes. Extinguisher signs are further coded to indicate the type and its appropriate use. For instance, CO2 (black) denotes safe for use on electrical fires but then should not be used in a restricted space.

5. Safe condition

A green and white sign stands for safe conditions. These are mainly used to tell people of escape routes and escape processes. The usual style is wording such as "Fire Exit" or "Exit" with a running man icon and a guiding arrow. Safety signs represented in the color green shows that where all the emergency kits are laying if need arises.
