The Importance of Choosing the Right Soil for Certain Flowers
Flowers may seem to grow effortlessly with just some sunshine, water and perhaps a visit from a friendly bee, but there is more to it than that. Some flowers, especially those that are native to your area, do thrive with little to no forethought or planning on the part of the gardener. However, other flowers require specific kinds of soil to even bloom, let alone thrive. If you have your heart set on cultivating a particular flower, you can amend your soil to be a hospitable environment for that specific plant. Otherwise, you can choose what to plant based on the type of soil that you already have.

Amending your soil takes research and hard work, but it isn’t an overly-complicated process. Start with a soil test kit, and once you read the results you’ll have to determine what you need to add to your soil in order to make the desired changes. Depending on the climate where you live, it may be best to amend soil in the fall or in the spring. Click here for more information on soil material in San Jose.
