Some people just NEVER learn

Mar 1st 2011 at 11:51 AM

I'm in the doghouse on Sweeva again - at least from one surfer's point of view because I called his pet opportunity a Ponzi. I did so advisedly and with the intention of protecting new internet marketers from losing their money.

A few years ago I might have jumped at it until I lost money in something similar, now I run a mile if anyone mentions doublers, cyclers or gifting. A few months ago a very well intentioned friend begged me to go into a money game that he had just found. I refused to risk my cash and he said OK, he would put money in and buy me a position. I let him do it, saying that in the unlikely event of it making anything, I'd pay him back.  He hooked me into the Skype group for the site.

A few days ago, it started to look like the admin had run off with the cash. He had supposedly 'moved' the site to a new server and posted messages saying it would be back in a few days. As I predicted, it has failed to appear and a lot of people have lost considerable amounts of cash.

This link goes to a Dominican Republic news site and refers explicitly to the money game I'm talking about

Even now some of the group are already looking (foolishly) to cover their costs and are going into similar schemes and trying to get everyone to follow them. Not a chance buddy!

If you want to avoid getting caught like this, ask yourself the following questions. Is there a REAL product or service that you are paying a one off or monthly subscription for. I DO NOT mean a heap of tired old e-books that you can pick up for free with a little work on Google. Let's take some examples. GDI, Trafficwave and Rolution all pay affiliates to recruit new people for their services. While you might not pay as much for the service they give if you were not getting commissions, it's still something you can use AND there are other non-commission businesses out there with similar services that you can choose if you want. These businesses COULD be re-structured to stand alone without their  commission payplan and people would still want that type of service.

So please don't be fooled. Remember the old adage that if it looks too good to be true it quite likely is. If you don't have a lot of money to start with, as you go into network marketing, don't lose it by dallying with these scammers.

You won't find me promoting anything that even smells slightly past its sell by date, and I am not easily taken in by the word 'free'.  I have to do some close investigation before I'll join anything and ask others to join me.
