Social Networking Works

Dec 2nd 2010 at 2:00 AM

I first got involved with social networking through a program called Yuwie which paid you to interact with other members. I didn't make much money but I made up for that with social capital. By social capital I mean the benefit I got from meeting a wide variety of people who were using the Internet to interact with others.

Since then I have really enjoyed using Facebook and IMFaceplate as well as participating in two active chat rooms connected to popular traffic exchanges.

The surprising thing is that you can get conversions and sales just for being seen at these different places without direct selling. In fact, being a friendly and extroverted character, I get more of a kick out of making more friends than in getting sales.

I will put in a plug here for an excellent program called Traffic Swirl that has the best and funniest chat out there today. I have met some very funny and accomplished people there. And when I see their sites I am more inclined to take notice. Why? Because I know them and they have not tried a hard sell on me.

drkelp: thanks for reading my first 'im' on my second day. SO happens that you just posted this article about social networking which is become, the past two years, an area of expertise in my blogging and merchant ventures. Hope to share, learn and gain experience as the New Year marks a one year anniversary since opening three 'webcam socials' online. [Since, have abandoned one because of poor provisions.] The social 'capital', if it was my wages, would be the biggest paycheck of my 45 years. I have received many mentions while developing huge instant messenger, and chat, populated with virtual friendships and it's global too. I am interested in traffic swirl and hope to visit soon. :p kudos I invite you to my faceplate profile and read a RSS feed titled, 'Squidoo.com: Create a Social Network' or something very close to that reading. :) You may find some good reference to my experience creating a 'niche' network thus a viewership for my various promotions. Doesn't hurt that the best value is true relationships I have developed online.

Hmmmm... interesting article. Brief and to the point, especially this paragraph: "The surprising thing is that you can get conversions and sales just for being seen at these different places without direct selling. In fact, being a friendly and extroverted character, I get more of a kick out of making more friends than in getting sales." It took me quite some time to realize this but fortunately I had an upline who explained it to me some time back. He emphasized that the most important and eventually beneficial part of social networking is "Socializing." If you are friendly, social and helpful, the money (sales and conversions) will take care of it self; this is exactly what your article has brought out. I am sure it will be of immense help to everyone who wants to make the most out of social networking as a business resource.
