Shoot For The Moon! Internet Marketing Is Not Rocket Science

All success begins with a dream and a goal. You need to know where you are going if you hope to ever get there. Internet Marketing is no different. That’s why I say set your sights HIGH – shoot for the moon! After all, Internet Marketing is not rocket science. Just do what other successful marketers have done.
Stage One: The Dream
So, you want to brand yourself as an Internet Marketing expert and reap the rewards of home-based business fame and fortune? Stage One involves defining your dream; clarifying in your own mind what your personal and financial goals really are.
What is your dream? If you are like many aspiring home business entrepreneurs, your dream is financial independence achieved through your own personal work-from-home efforts. But why settle for financial independence? Shoot for the moon! Go for financial abundance!
Independence is just getting by. Abundance means having the time and the financial freedom to truly live the life you have always dreamed of!
If abundance is your goal, what does that translate to in yearly or monthly income? This is where you must clearly define the height of your financial goal. Abundance means different things to different people. Perhaps $3,000 a month is good enough for you? Or $5,000? Or $10,000? Whatever figure will allow you to live the lifestyle you dream of, that’s the minimum goal to aim for. But why not shoot for the moon? If $5,000 is “good enough” then why not make your goal $6,000 or $7,000? You’ve got to stretch yourself.
Somebody once said that the greatest danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it, but that our aim is too low and we reach it. Start out with a worthy aim. If you shoot for the moon and miss it, you will still end up flying higher than you would have if you had set a lesser goal.
Stage Two: Planning and Preparation
They say that Rome wasn’t built in a day. Neither will be the realization of your Internet Marketing dreams and goals; success and achievement take planning and preparation. The better you plan and prepare, the quicker you will achieve results and the more substantial they will be.
But don’t let planning and preparation overwhelm you: Internet Marketing is not rocket science. You just need to learn what to do and the best ways to do it. Remember, other successful entrepreneurs have done it before you, so all of the hard work has been done. Simply find out what they are doing so you can do the same things.
But here’s the tricky part: knowing which Internet Marketing “experts” to follow as models. Everywhere you go, everybody has a sure-fire technique or process for success. Some are tried and true. Some are just pipe dreams.
Your best bet is to study several leaders, compare your notes, and identify the commonality in their best practices.
There are certain basics that everybody must do for Internet Marketing success. For example, you must brand yourself as an expert. This means having your own domain name and website, not a free replicated affiliate website, and you must diligently use a variety of marketing methods, such as blogging, Social Networking, article marketing, and targeted advertising.
Another basic for success is constantly immersing yourself in the business of Internet Marketing through regular research and study of current best practices and daily application of those practices.
We all have our favourite sources of marketing mentorship and guidance. The source I regularly turn to for information and inspiration is the Affiliate Power Group (APG), an online membership group that offers a range of resources, peer support, and encouragement. Five experienced marketing mentors answer questions and offer counsel to the members. Much of what I have learned about Internet Marketing has come from the APG mentors.
The group of mentors you choose to follow and emulate is entirely up to you, but my point here is that the best way to plan and prepare for YOUR success is to learn from others who have achieved what you dream of achieving.
Stage Three: Blast Off!
Once your dream is defined, your goal is clear and you have learned (from the experts) what to do and how best to do it, you are ready to launch your success rocket. Blast off for the moon!
Get your website set up, your products, services and programs in place, work on building your presence in several Social Networking communities, plan a strategy for writing or producing regular blog posts and articles for the directories, and generally make a commitment to spend part of each day working on each of these marketing elements, and part of each day researching and studying how other marketers are conducting their Internet Marketing businesses.
Here is a final thought: don’t go into things to test the waters, go into things to make some big waves! Shoot for the moon! Internet Marketing is not rocket science.
