Personal Branding Basics

Apr 6th 2013 at 2:30 PM
It’s common now to hear it said, ‘You must Build A Brand’ or ‘Brand Yourself’ What does it really mean & how do you achieve it? If you want to start a on line business then it will certainly make your life so much easier if you do ‘Build A Brand’ that people can associate with. Firstly, I recommend that you have a site/blog with your own name associated to it. Like my site below, shown as an example ‘Mike Robertson’ Blog (My real name) is hosted under the domain of mbrobertson.com (Initials & surname) You should definitely have your own Gravatar, it’s a picture of you that appears on your site and also follows you around the web. If you write a post or leave a comment the Gravatar appears next to your name, it’s a great way for readers to easily identify you from the crowd. Don’t worry if you haven’t heard of one before and don’t know how to get it set up, simply search on the internet under ‘Gravatar’ and follow the instructions, best of all it’s FREE I keep my user name on all sites as close to my real name as possible, for example on Twitter it’s @ Mike Robertson or a Traffic site I use regularly Thumbvu, again it’s Mike Robertson which makes my referral link as follows: http://www.thumbvu.com/ref/MikeRobertson You can see a common theme appearing which is no accident, it enables other people to instantly recognise who you are. Congratulations, you have started to ‘Build Your Own Brand‘ I hope you noticed I said, ‘Started’. It’s only the beginning as you need to gain people’s trust especially on line, easiest way to do that is by being consistent as yourself & staying truthful in your posts Your readers will want to connect with you before signing up to anything or buying products you recommend. It’s much easier and quicker if they can easily identify how you look and some details about you. Truth is: For most people it’s personal, they only connect with people they like & trust. Build a real relationship with your readers now & it will pay you back for years to come Mike Robertson http://brandmetool.com/?rid=1008
