Today our small story is in the Austin Texas about a community servant named Matt.

Matt has been an active community-Servant in Austin Texas for about seven years. He operates from one of the Mobile loaves and fishes trucks that travels around town daily seeking out the poor and needy or homeless individuals sometimes families with small children that frequent the streets. The poor and needy will daily seek a specific location where his trucks' arrival is anticipated. {Sometimes a quick search on the Internet can reveal predesignated locations where the trucks can be found.} Other wise the trucks arbitrarily seek out the poor and needy, who are often roaming the streets with backpacks or luggage and can be seen at bus stops and other locations. The “Mobile loaves and fishes” organization was founded by a man named Alan Graham.

Matt "The Community Serviant

Matt stocks his truck with food, clothing, hygiene items for both men and women along with miscellaneous church literature that sometimes include cute little leaflets stuffed in plastic bags , created by young children from his Church. They create them as part of an Art class, with GOD LOVES YOU messages {via crayon Art} ;and the like, from within their Church-school.

He'll occasionally bring along with him special request items ; that may include bus tickets or work-boots, work-pants and certain other items that may have been specifically asked of him from the week before by some of his attendees.

Matt's story is unique in that he is a loyal and devout Catholic.

He attends St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Austin Texas whose Priest is from Uganda and has an associate Minister from India; the Church has a Director who is in charge of the Church's Community Outreach ministry.

Our Community-servant, {friend:Matt} was adopted at three months of age by Catholic parents from a Catholic Orphanage along with two sisters who are alive still to this day here in Austin Texas.

Matt remains close to his parents and says he fondly remembers them, from his younger years as “just being there as parents” : he fondly remembers having a “home” not just as a physical building; but a caring environment to grow up in, while feeling close to his family, his two younger sisters and his mom and dad.

Matt describes his young formative years; to have included a Catholic school with Nuns who were expert disciplinarians and teachers.

Born in Detroit Michigan but raised in Upstate New York, he played football, basketball as a young healthy and vibrant athlete in key positions such as center and left wing; he was a third baseman on the baseball team a running back in football to later arrive here in Austin Texas to attend St Edwards University a Catholic school where he graduated.

In the year 2000 Matt felt an urging to do some researching into his natural born family tree. He discovered two other siblings, (brothers), and sought to find out any information surrounding his early adoption. It all came near a moment in time when Matt felt the need to seek the LORD's will for his Life.

He continues to keep in touch with those other siblings and family; but maintains strong adoration for the parents who adopted him. {Who by the way, are still alive and near their nineties in age}.

“This is my life” Matt says with a near baritone voice; he stands on the street next to his mobile loaves and fish truck with his hands in his pockets, shrugging his shoulders; while at the same time picking up conversations with many of the poor and needy who casually approach him to initiate polite conversations or make requests for specific needs.

“I'm not here to push Catholicism on others , people have different beliefs; I'm here to serve, I just keep it simple”.

Prior to doing mobile loaves and fishes in 2008; Matt worked in the Real Estate Business which he says “dried up”. He performed Residential Mortgages and Sales, worked on numerous other types of work which in his description all seemed to be going downward.

An opportunity arrived at his Church with the Mobile Loaves and Fishes program; a non-profit organization started by Alan Graham which had just began getting its momentum in the community.

Invitations came from other Church members to continue Mobile Loaves and Fishes at his Church; no one else seemed at the time to be picking up the ball and running with it.

“I had plenty of time on my hands”; says Matt shrugging his shoulders ;“It doesn't take a whole lot of work to close a door on a business that's going nowhere anyway”. Referring to a company he shut down to take up the ball and run with it in his Church.

“So this is my Life now.”

Matt spends his leisure time playing golf and racquetball; he's on the Board of a couple of local Charitable organizations in Austin Texas. But continues living on as a single Dad to his only child, a daughter; who he's putting through college, now in her first semester at ACC.

Nathan services Inc.: What other things do you do in your spare time?

Matt: Well....creativity for me is cooking....I love to cook; I make really good stews and soups.

Interview:: Nathan Services Inc: What motivates you to do this kind of stewardship in the community?

Matt: “For me personally I've been blessed with a lot of gifts; One scripture comes to my mind though; it's when Jesus said “when I was hungry you gave me something to eat, when I was thirsty you gave something to drink; when I was naked you clothed me.....”

Matt is referring to a scripture in the Holy Bible located in St. Matthews the 25th chapter kjv.; entitled “The Judgment” in which Christ the Messiah, speaks of a Judgment Day for the end of time and for those who would prefer to enter the Kingdom of God as opposed to those who are not welcomed. The verses read verbatim as follows:

Verse 33): And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

35): For I was an hungered, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: 36). Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me: I was in prison, and ye came unto me.

37). Then shall the righteous answer, saying, LORD, when saw we thee a hungered, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink?

38). When saw we thee a stranger, and took the in? Or naked, and clothed thee?

39.) Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

40.) And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren ye have done it unto me.

41) Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

42.)For I was an hungered, and ye gave me no meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink:

43.) I was a stranger; and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not.

44.) Then shall they also answer him, saying, LORD, when saw we thee an hungered, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did did not minister unto thee?

45.) Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me.

46.) And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

Matt: I Think you go through this journey in life and its a simple act of choosing HIM. I think I've chosen HIM.
