Marketing Plan Outline: The Words You Use Are the Key

The very first entry for your marketing plan outline should be a list of all the things in your life that you have a love for.  Isn’t that the dream of most men and women?  To make a living, earning their income doing what they love to do?  When a person has the same passion for their work as they do their hobbies and special interests, I call that serenity.


If you are willing to put all your work and efforts into a business that you really do not connect with, is called a job.  You might as well pull out the classifieds and go do the 40 hour, day in, day out, j. o. b.


 Confucius say, “a man who loves his job, never works his entire life”.  Isn’t the whole idea of starting a home based business supposed to be just that?   Your escape from the daily grind of getting up, eat breakfast,  go to work, come home, eat some dinner, unwind, go to bed. Get up, eat breakfast, go to work, come home, and on and on and on!


So, in developing your marketing plan outline, the first thing that should be done, is to make a list of your hobbies and all the things that you have a passion for. These are the things you have the most knowledge. You are an authority in these matters!  It is from this list you should start developing keywords.


These keywords will start the foundation for your new online business. These same keywords are used every day by people searching the internet for products or information relating to the very same hobby or interest that you share. This is called a “niche”.


 Just consider all the times you have searched the internet for answers.  A combination of 2 to 3 words that you typed into the search field with Google or Yahoo, Bing, etc.


Now you are ready to research the keywords that you have listed.  This keyword research will not only determine if there is a market for your niche, but will also determine who your competition is.  You don’t want to be competing with George Foreman type opponents; in other words, the big companies that have big, deep pockets for advertising.


For you to achieve your goals with your new online business, your competition needs to be light weight contenders that can’t compete with what you are going to bring to the table. This is how you start your marketing plan outline.
