Dec 31st 2012 at 6:27 PM
Owning a business can be tough. Getting it set up, hiring employees, buying the building. There is just a lot involved in getting your business up and running. But what can kill this more than anything else is the shift in society. In the past you could rely on standard marketing, you could put ads on TV, radio, or in newspapers and that was enough. But now days those just do not cut it, and often can actually be a waste of money.More and more people are turning to the internet for everything they need. Whether they want to buy a specific item or find the location of a restaurant, it is all done online now a days. So if you do not have a presence online you are really missing out. Local internet marketing is one of the single most important aspects of marketing now days, and if you do not do it then you really can not competeGetting a presence online is not as daunting as you might think. In fact it is actually cheaper and easier than your more traditional forms of advertising. To get yourself a strong presence online you first need to make a website. Most every business now days has a website, and odds are you will have one for your business already. But in the off chance you do not, then you need to make one.Once you have a website you need to start on your local internet marketing. Simply setting up a website is not enough, you need to market it same way you market your business. You need people to visit your site, learn it exists, and as such learn your business exists.Marketing online is quite different than marketing in real life. You can not really just place an ad and call it a day.  You will need to create custom, quality content and release it often. Essentially, you want to keep your page rank high. Page rank being what determines what page you land on when someone searches on Google or other search engines. The higher your page rank, the closer to page one you get, and you want to be as close to page one as possible. There is a lot of criteria you need to meet to get on page one and it is often changing due to various updates, so it can be difficult to give you express details. Some forms of local internet marketing would be things like back linking, which is simply getting your website linked from another website with similar content. Other ways include article marketing, social network marketing, and blogging. All of these methods of advertising require you to produce quality content that is unique, you can not just repost the same thing endlessly. If you decide to get a strong presence online you will notice a stark improvement in your sales. It will not happen overnight, but you will notice it eventually. The more you work at it the better off you will be and the more customers you will get.Randy Ottmann is the Owner of  http://TrafficMaxNow.com.  Check us out anytime for marketing tips and a free subscription to our cutting edge newsletter.Check out Mobile Monopoly
