Join The Mobile Revolution, (or get left behind) Updated
A few years ago your cell phone was a way to contact one another send a message maybe. You still thought your desktop computer seemed the most marvellous invention of all time! Connect to the World Wide Web and you were in communication with millions of people all around the world.
More recently, a bevy of social sites like facebook, Twitter, google+, Pinterest and countless others have become a more personal way of connecting, and of course Internet Marketers have been quick to see the potential of finding new customers by using these sites to build their lists.
While all this has been going on, there has been a major revolution happening. Just last week I spent some time with my 14 year old granddaughter. Now we have been facebook friends for quite some time, and silly me I thought she was posting to facebook from her laptop like I was.
I was wrong; my little angel does all this from her mobile phone!
Here are a few facts that should make every marketer sit up and take notice.
Fact one – There are five billion people using mobile phones on a daily basis, and this makes the mobile potentially five times bigger than the internet, and growing every day!
Fact two – More than half of all new internet connections are made from mobile phones.
Fact three – The introduction of mobile smart phones like iphone and Android means that right now there are something like 50 million potential consumers walking around with these pocket computers.
Fact four – More than ninety percent of mobile phone users have them on their person or close by 24 hours in every day, 7 days a week.
When I first wrote this article there were not many advertisements on cell phones but now some 4 years later it has become a major industry - to the degree that Google now have changed the rules. If your website isn't mobile friendly, it isn't likely that their robots will crawl your site at all.
If you are not mobile friendly you can forget about being number one on Google.
Fact five - you have been left behind.
