Ideas for a Relaxing Weekend In

Dec 12th 2013 at 2:39 PM

Do you want to have a more productive work week? Start by learning how to relax on the weekends. Make the best of your time off by cutting yourself some slack and enjoying the things you love. You don’t necessarily have to go clubbing or take a trip in order to unwind. Spending your weekend in can be just as fulfilling.

Maintaining a healthy work – life balance is the key to being more efficient from Monday to Friday. Let go of work on the weekend and spend your time reconnecting with yourself and recharging your batteries. We’ve gathered some tips that will help you have a relaxing weekend. Take a look, below.

Movie marathon

Get some snacks and enjoy an evening filled with your favorite movies. The holidays are close, so why not relax with some of the greatest Christmas movies of all time?

Kick back with some light reading

What’s better then cuddling up with a good book on a winter evening? A romantic novel is the best choice for a light read. There are many romance stories to choose from, so take your pick.

Cook yourself a fancy meal

Cook something you don’t usually have time to make on a weekday. Start your day with a delicious breakfast or late brunch and end it with a memorable dinner.

Don’t exaggerate

Don’t oversleep, overeat or overdrink. Just because it’s the weekend doesn’t mean you have to forget about your healthy habits. It will do you more harm than good.

Meditate

Learn how to meditate. Meditation will reduce stress and anxiety, but also improve your focus and memory. Headspace is a useful smartphone app to get you started.

Exercise

Besides the benefits it has for your health, exercise boosts energy and improves your mood. It relieves stress and keeps you in tip-top shape. You don’t even have to go to the gym – there are plenty of workouts you can try out in your living room.

Take on a project

If you don’t feel like yourself unless you are doing something productive, consider taking on a project this weekend. Get a handle on your finances, start developing some healthy habits or learn a new skill. Lifehacker has a great list of weekend projects you can choose from.

Host a game night

Instead of going out on Saturday night, host a game night. Board games are always entertaining, so get together with your friends and have some fun.

Let go of guilt and forget about errands. This weekend, give yourself some time to recover after a demanding work week. Enjoy!
