I boughIt the 37 ton splitter off the floor
After researching several Log splitter machines I purchased the North Star Splitter several months ago. Since then we have split about 40 face cords of various hard woods.
The splitter performed very well during that time. The tilt feature is a big plus in splitting large diameter pieces.
The tow feature is another plus that is very useful when you have several sites that you are working from. Overall the machine has worked out very well.
I had one issue with the return of the hydraulic fluid being pushed out the relief plug. Customer service had the fix for me in a couple of days. But pay attention to which way the relief hole is positioned .
Must be away from the return line this cured the problem..
I boughIt the 37 ton splitter off the floor. It didn't work, I brought it back. They worked on it.
Brought it back home, fittings leaking under pressure. Brought it back. They fixed it .
Got it home wouldn't split wood. brought it back.
They gave me a new splitter and a $50 gift card for my trouble. The Store Manager Rick was great !!!.
I split wood from Oct to Dec it paid for itself and then some.
2011 I have split approx 40 cords of wood this year.
The woods that I have a problem to split are sweet gum and elm. They don't split - they tear and shread.
I split really large trees. some as big as 48" dia.
We have to move them with a front end loader. Trees that big have to be split by hand and then some.
(1) I wished the steel base was 4 times as big.
(2) I wish the ram return was faster.
The Engineers have made a great splitter.
The staff really stood Log splitter factory behind the equipment.
