How To Track Your Ads With Tracking Codes

Tracking your ads to know where your opt ins and sales are coming from is important to optimize your advertising. No one wants to spend anymore than they need to in advertising, so why not know EXACTLY where your prospects and sales are coming from!

Follow these easy steps to adding a tracking code to your ads!

1. Get a domain from I use

2. Forward that domain to your program or business opportunity link; the link that you will want people to go to to opt in.

3. Add a tracking code to the end of this domain. Pick some letters that you will recognize when you see the opt in. For example I do advertising on various list builders and I also do some Pay-per-click (ppc) on this review website. So to track my ad from one of my list builders, like List-N-Profit, I would add this to the end of my domain: ?t=lnp. So then the complete domain becomes:

4.Now use this complete link with ad tracking code in your ad.

5.When you get an opt in from your aweber autoresponder, your notification email will have this in the subject line: AWeber gdimhbb.lnp: Notice the "lnp" at the end. This means that opt in came from my list builder, List-N-Profit.

6.You can get creative and track even specific ads. For example maybe you have 5 ads. Your tracking code could be ?t=lnpad3. So you would know it was ad 3 on that list builder gave you the opt in.

7. When a sale comes in, look at the email address of the sale and match it up to the opt in notification emails. I keep an excel spreadsheet to track each opt in, then where it came from and when they convert to a sale.

8.It sounds like a lot of work, but it is real easy to set up and gives you total knowledge of what ads are really working for you.
