They are largely being used in the automotive industry since the end of 19th century. Though they are still being used in lawn mowers, small engines and many other technical devices. The word carburetor has a French origin ‘carburet’, which means to combine with carbon, thus increasing the energy level of the fluid by making the combination with hydrocarbons.

Carburetor performs various functions mentioned below;

•    Joining of gasoline and air for highly combustible mixture
•    Regulating the proportions of fuel and air.
•    Maintaining and controlling the speed of engine.

If you have no personal experience regarding dealing with engine and carburetor, it is proffered to hire a professional carb cleaner in order to avoid the risk of damage due to mishandling. But choosing the right carb cleaner could be tricky and time consuming, as you do not wish to hand over your brand new Mercedes Benz to some random guy to play with.

So while selecting a carb cleaner / carb cleaning service, following things should be kept in mind;

1.    Cleaner should be easily accessible: It means the cleaner or the cleaning service should be registered and their number should be available on the phone book. They can be easily goggled on the internet as well. If no one answers the phone, they should call you back after wards. It reflects their keen interest in you and ultimately in your precious ride as well. A good carb cleaner is easy to be in touch with, and maintains this communication while he is handling your car.

2.    Provision of a free estimate: Most clearing services provide free services to observe and roughly estimates the total cost of carb cleaner. You can expect to provide you estimate in written form as well. In this way, it saves the argument while giving up the bill at the end of the services.

3.    Compare the prices: Before hiring a carb cleaner, research thoroughly and short list a number of cleaners. Do SWOT analysis of each. It does not necessarily means that the company with least cost could be delivering poor services or the company with the highest cost would be offering the best services. So choose the one with good repute, Do not make cost oriented decisions.

4.    Get referrals: If you don’t have much experience in this field, you can always ask your friends and family that where do they take their cars for carb cleaning. You should at least know 3 4 persons personally who had a great experience with that particular cleaner. Going

5.    To the cleaner with that reference would boost your confidence in that cleaner and you might get to be treated fairly, your car would be under extra care and you would experience high quality results as well.

6.    Ask about the product details: You should be aware of the type of products being used while cleaning the carb. They should not be too cheap in order to save money, or else it would ultimately destroy the engine. The chemicals, aerosol carb spray should not cause damage; in fact they are meant to clean the debris and dirt in the hidden areas of carb.
