Grow Taller 4 Idiots Review - Finding your way around the healthcare system

Sep 17th 2013 at 11:06 PM

When the health centre is closed and you cannot wait until the following day:

When the health centre is closed and you cannot wait until the following day you can receive help at a local emergency unit (närakut). The unit treats the same kinds of illnesses and complaints as the health centre.

Sometimes it is difficult to assess how seriously ill or injured you are. To avoid an unnecessary wait at the local emergency unit when you could just as well receive help at your health centre the next day, you can phone Vårdguiden on 08-320 100 first. You can then speak to an experienced nurse, who will help you decide whether you need care straight away and where you should go Grow Taller 4 Idiots Review

Emergency Care

If you suddenly become seriously ill or badly injured:

If you suddenly become seriously ill or badly injured,  i.e. acute chest pains, breathing difficulties, skull injuries, fractures, deep wounds or serious bleeding, you should go to the accident and emergency department (akutmottagning) at a hospital (sjukhus). Accident and emergency departments are open 24 hours a day. There are special emergency departments for critically sick or injured children.

If you are so seriously ill or badly injured that you cannot make your own way to an accident and emergency department, you should call the emergency number 112 for SOS Alarm, which will send an ambulance.

Sexual and Reproductive Health Clinics:

Both women and men can turn to reproductive health clinics (Sex- och samlevnadsmottagningarna, Sesammottagningarna) with queries and complaints relating to sexuality and health. The clinics give advice and support, try out contraception, test for venereal disease and conduct examinations.

Young People’s Counselling Centres:

Grow Taller 4 Idiots Review:Young people of both sexes can turn to young people’s counselling centres (ungdomsmottagning) up until they are 24 years of age. Midwives, welfare officers, doctors and sometimes also psychologists work at the centres.

Among other things you can:

· discuss and ask about sex and sexuality

· test yourself for venereal disease

· get advice on, and try out, contraception

· get free condoms

· ask about pregnancy

· discuss and ask about love and relationships

· speak with somebody you get help from when you feel down or depressed, or have problems.

Antenatal Clinics

When you need contraception or are pregnant:

The antenatal clinic (barnmorskemottagningen, or mödravårdscentralen, as it is also known) receives women of all ages from teenage to the menopause. If you become pregnant you will be offered free visits to the antenatal clinic throughout the pregnancy. The midwife will check that you and your child are well, and you will be able to ask questions about pregnancy and giving birth. Your partner is naturally also welcome. You can also bring a friend, your mother or come by yourself.

You can also turn to the antenatal clinic if you need contraceptives, would like to take a pregnancy test or for advice on abortion. Gynaecological health checks (smear tests) are also carried out at the antenatal clinic for the prevention and early signs of cervical cancer.
