Google Places is a great way to advertise any business FREE

Feb 18th 2011 at 12:22 PM

First of all, Google Places is a great way to advertise any business FREE. But, most businesses don't know this or they don't have the time to set up their listing.

However, 34 percent of Google searches are for local search or content.  Let's face it, when you do a local search for a dentist or a restaurant, you don't want to find a dentist or restaurant in another town hundreds of miles away.

Google now knows where people are searching from.  They do not even have to enter a 'keyword plus a city' or a 'long tailed keyword string.  That means that local listings are optimized for generic keywords.

You do not have to learn Search Engine Optimization (SEO) in this market. You know, the ones that are really tough to rank for. For example, “Internet Marketing.” Try a one word keyword in Google Places, like 'dentist'…check it out for yourself!

If you have a smart phone, you already know that smart phones are optimized for local search! So, if you’re looking for a dentist, your search is going to focus on your local area! And, smart phones are proliferating folks!

Can you see yourself telling a local business owner that you can set them up a Google Place listing and charging them $300-$500 for initial set-up plus a monthly retainer fee?

…Only 3 percent of local businesses have claimed their free Google Place listing.

The future of advertising has changed. It is now driven by Internet marketing. On the other hand, companies are still using services like Valpak to advertise. Do you receive Valpak in the mail? What do you do with them? I tossed mine in the recycle bin!

Keep your Valpak next month. See what businesses are using them. Introduce them to Google places, and save them some money!

Those of you who have not yet registered for the ACME Phone Lead local lead generation platform really need to if you are interested in working your local market:
