It is known that certain foods and habits that reduce the pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter and therefore conducive to reflux. Thus one should avoid:
fried and fatty foods, chocolate, peppermint, garlic, onion and smoking. Also, some foods can irritate or damage the esophagus, and should certainly be avoided. These are: citrus and citrus juices, tomato products, red pepper, chili and pepper. People suffering from GERD should not lie down after a meal, especially if the meal was hearty and rich in fats and proteins.
Big meals rich in fats and proteins stimulate abundant secretion of gastric secretion and slow gastric emptying. Therefore, these patients advise moderate consumption of meat, dairy products and eggs 3 hours before going.
Scientific studies established a relationship of linoleum acid intake and healing ability of the mucous lining of the stomach and duodenum, and reduced incidence of ulcers. Linoleic acid is the main source of arachidonic acid, precursor of prostaglandins, which have cytoprotective effects in the duodenum. Because they are the best dietary sources of linoleic acid vegetables, seeds and oil seeds, particularly flaxseed, it is useful to include these foods in your diet.
Omega-3 fatty acids also showed a protective effect; therefore, the diet of these patients should be abundantly represented fish, especially fish from the north, such as cod, salmon, tuna and swordfish.
Fermented milk products containing probiotics that establish a balance in the intestinal tract and protect against harmful bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms. Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus) and other types of probiotics in vitro studies have demonstrated bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect on Helicobacter pylori.
Probiotic products are also useful because they reduce the harmful side effects of drugs used for the eradication of H. pylori, such as reducing diarrhea caused by antibiotics. It is very important to reduce the level of stress and practice regular relaxation techniques such as yoga, stretching exercises or meditation.
