Followers or Following

Sep 18th 2010 at 1:57 AM

What is the act of Following and/or Followers all about?

How do people find the time to follow so many people, with interest and meaning?

These are the questions, I ask myself whilst on this journey of discovery. Surely, a person you follow should be indicative of your thinking or do you follow to merely keep an eye on your opposition in business? Is it a marketing exercise to gain the exposure necessary to build your personal Brand or List in order to attract opportunities? Could it be about building relationships at a fast pace?

Have you identified a mentor or a significant figure within the industry who you follow?

Is it necessary for a person to be a follower in order to become a true leader?

Why should people follow Rob Lawson of earningagain, what will they be looking to take away from the relationship? Is this a question we should be asking prior to us going to the market to try and generate income? Is a follower the ideal customer in business?

Come on marketers, I challenge you to question the meaning of Followers or Following.

Thanks for your post "Followers or Following" ;) When I review other members on IMfaceplate or other social media sites I explore their interests & activities, information/help they've provided through their writings and also monitor whether they spam me .... There are many awesome people in The World, it's utterly amazing to see how many of us so many miles apart have so many interests/hobbies/values,etc in common... I love this industry & the resources it presents to us all to help us all explore friendships and information that we otherwise would never become aware of!!

Your post reminded me on an article I wrote "Social Networking -Is Quantity Better Than Quality". I hope you will take time to read it: http://www.imfaceplate.com/catherinedwhite/social-networking-is-quantity-better-than-quality I think we may have similar views.

Following does a number of things... One.. It brings someone to your presence here as well as helps build a following. Most people will follow you if you follow them which give you more followers which will give you more exposure. It's not so much as being best friends with 1000 people or something because you can't physicality do that. To follow is more of a hope you follow me type thing... It also opens the windows of a vast amount of quality programs and products that you might of otherwise never seen or seen to late to get in way early which is where the big bucks always are!! So I would say following is branding yourself, getting your face and name out there, building trust and establishing a lifetime of lists that you can promote your biz ops to.. Hope this helps, Thanks for everything Rob!

I follow for (presently) three reasons: 1) To learn something of new programs--and the angle the marketer uses as an approach. Some of these are inventively original. 2) Knowledgeable articles or comments a marketer includes that suggests a desire for a more interpersonal connection with others. 3) The rare, truly brilliant marketer whose profile I almost cannot help keeping tabs on, whether or not I actually like the person.
