Easy Passwords Given Away

Aug 18th 2010 at 11:10 PM

I was reading an article the other day about how the majority of people in a survey admitted making their online passwords easily available.

Three of the most regularly used passwords - town of birth, date of birth and names of past schools - all feature in the personal details which people publish on online dating profiles ans social networking sites such as Facebook.

Apparantly 2,000 adults were surveyed and 18% said they would publish their town of birth on internet profiles but only 3$ would give the same information to a stranger over the phone. In the same survey 51% also said they used the same password for most or all of their online accounts.

However it is really easy to create and manage passwords with a program such as Roboform - I have used it for years and whenever I need to create a password I simply click on the Roboform icon - click Tools - click Generate Passwords - and Hey Presto it's done - it generates random characters based on parameters that you can set. It also remembers all your passwords and makes logging in to accounts so easy...

The best part, though, is that it is a FREE download though there is a Pro version with more features...

If you don't have a Password Manager download it now and try it out....
