Easing Out Sonography

Mar 21st 2014 at 2:15 AM

The invention of ultrasound technique created a wave of revolution in the medical world. While x-rays could only detect hard bodies with high intensity rays, ultrasound used the echo system to detect concerns with softer organs and even fetuses. Such has been the advancement in ultrasound techniques for medical imaging that even bones and internal organs of a fetus is made visible. This has vastly helped detect and treat several fetal disorders, decreasing the risk of fetal and infant death.

While ultrasound images were earlier only in black and white, color Doppler tests today have increased the chances of detecting medical evidences with much better precision. Such is the advancement in color Doppler technology that the heart of a quarter inch six-week old fetus can be seen with ease. Even fluid levels in various parts of the body can be monitored more easily with color Doppler tests.

There are a variety of color Doppler testing machines available in the market for sonologists to choose from. However, one of the most preferred and easily portable machine is the SonoScape S2 Ultrasound Imaging System. This new portable machine is ready to use anywhere and at any time. It is also fitted with a probe holder and two probe sockets, along with several peripherals like an internal workstation, USB port, S-video, DICOM3.0, etc. The machine has a frame rate of a maximum of 800 frames per second. But this is dependent on the configuration of the system. Besides offering a grey scale display of 256 levels, it also offers probe elements up to 128.

The machine is designed to offer high-end medical imaging through panoramic, trapezoid, compound and 4-D imaging facilities. This Doppler tool is configured with the DPI mode, color mode, multi-B mode, B mode and M mode among others, and also has configurations to perform gynecology, cardiac, urology, vascular and orthopedic packages to name a few.

This color Doppler imaging machine has a cine loop of a minimum of 99 frames with a loop time of a minimum of 99 seconds. Doppler images can be frozen and also viewed on the playback mode.
