Jul 28th 2010 at 12:32 PM

If you were to take up a sport where physical activity is involve would you want to be your best at it? If you think you can just begin and be the best with out training you are fooling yourself.
There was a time when golfers, pros and amateurs alike, thought all they had to do was learn the fundamentals and improve on them and they would be the best. That myth has been proven wrong.
Weight training has become a necessity for the pro golfer, as well as the amateur. Since today's equipment is designed to improve your game, so must you improve your body to use it. If you are going to use the equipment you have top be able to control it. Not everyone can make a club with a large sweet spot go where they plan unless they have the strength to do so.
Weight training involves repetitions to build strength in the areas that you use for the sport you are in. Golfers training is not the same as a biker, or a runner. If you have trouble with your swing, train your arms to help you get thru the swing, if you have trouble with distance improve your leg strength.
Weight training for golfers has become as essential as picking the right club or the right ball. Don't shy from it embrace it and improve your game.
There is no doubt that the importance of a golf weight training program will continue to rise in the years to come.
