Dissertation Paper Structure

Structure of the paper work:

1. Contents;

2. List of symbols, characters, items;

3. Introduction;

4. Main part;

5. Conclusions;

6. List of references;

7. Attachments.


Content is provided at the beginning of the dissertation paper. It contains the names and numbers of all the initial pages of sections, subsections and points (if they have a title), including accession to the conclusions of chapters, general conclusions, applications, list of references and others.

List of symbols, characters, items, abbreviations and terms (if necessary)

If there is a specific terminology in the paper work, and little-known cuts, new characters, symbols and so on, they can be presented in a separate list that is placed before the introduction.

The list should be printed in the form of two columns, which has abridgements in alphabetical order on the left and their detailed decoding on the right.

If the dissertation has special terms, abbreviations, symbols, symbols and so on and they are repeated at least three times, you don’t make the list, and their transcript is cited in the text when they’re first mentioned.


The introduction discloses the nature and status of scientific problems (tasks) and its significance, the grounds and baseline data for developing of theme, reasoning of the research. Then you should submit a general characterization of the dissertation in the recommended sequence below.

Illumination of relevance should not be verbose. A few sentences are enough to express the main thing - the essence of the problem or research task.

You need to write about tasks, which should be solved in order to achieve the goal. The object of research is the process or event that creates a problematic situation. Research subject is contained in the research object. Object and subject of research as a scientific process categories relate to each other as total and partial.

Methods of research

You should provide list of methods, which were used in your research work.

Main part

Chapters of the main part describe:

1. review of literature;

2. methodology and main methods of research;

3. experimental methods of studies;

4. data about theoretical and/or experimental research;

5. analysis and summarizing of results of your research.


The most important scientific and practical results obtained during research should be described in the general conclusions. As suggested by experts from they must contain wording of scientific problem (task), its importance to science. Then conclusions and recommendations on the scientific and practical use of the obtained results are formulated.

List of references


Bibliographic description of sources is formed according to current standards of library and publishing.
