Dana Edward's fashion excites
If you missed the Caribbean Natural Hair Show held at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, last Sunday, then you would have missed the giveaways, hair and health workshops, hair product demos, hair show, and most important, the fashion show.
Inspired by the theme of the show, 'Black consciousness, natural hair and embracing African beauty,' designer Dana Edwards did not hold back on her creativity for the 18 pieces she showcased.
Edwards showed off one hot number after the next from her new collection African- and summer-inspired. Her designs were made from cotton, silkara and chiffon- pieces that can be worn to a cocktail party, a formal dinner, girl's night out or brunch.
Edwards started out in a garment factory making school uniforms before expanding into the self-titled clothing line in 2014. "It began as a sample of six cocktail dresses, and has now expanded to more than 20 different styles of casual and business attire which includes dresses, tops, skirts, rompers, and swimwear," Edwards told Flair.
Fashion was in Edwards DNA. She was born in the business of fashion, her father the famed Bill Edwards and her designer mom Lilieth. "Having grown up in an industrial garment-manufacturing factory, and played a vital role in some of the lessons that are pertinent to our operations today, I just have an eye to know what looks good," Edwards shared.
"I was inspired to create a mark in our local fashion industry not only because it's my passion, but to carry on the legacy of my mom who was also a fashion designer, and my father who worked tirelessly to ensure he made a difference in the business, she added.
Here is a look at Edward's line.
