Brand Yourself Through Social Networking
GT Bulmer © Affiliate Power Central
Who knew that Social Networking would turn into one of the greatest things to come from the Internet?
Not only does networking on social sites like IM faceplate, Twitter and Facebook allow you to meet new people with similar marketing interests, but it also provides the ideal format to effectively brand yourself.
Every online marketer needs to develop some branding strategies, using Social Networking, to attract targeted prospects and to help build their image as a preferred source for their products.
Here are a few recommended ways to help create your web presence and effectively brand yourself.
1. Bookmark your blog articles to social directories and networking sites. It just stands to reason that the more places you can post your links and make others aware of any new content you have posted, the better it is going to be for you. There is just too much competition these days to expect people to automatically or “organically” find you, even if you apply good onsite search engine optimization practices.
Personally, I use both OnlyWire and SocialMarker to bookmark posts I make on my website.
These two social bookmarking tools will submit your blog URLs to social directories and networking sites where search engines and visitors can find them. Once again, the idea is to expand your reach as much as possible. Branding yourself means getting yourself seen and recognized everywhere.
Branding also means presenting yourself as an expert knowledgeable in your niche, or on the subject you are writing about.
2. Visit Twitter regularly and tweet free information. To benefit from Twitter, you do not constantly have to be selling to your followers. In fact, it’s best NOT to tweet only marketing messages. Mix it up with informative posts, tips, inspiration, and retweets of other Twitter members’ tweets.
If you provide a good variety of tweets, you will enhance your reputation as a helpful, knowledgeable professional Internet Marketer, and that is exactly how you want to brand yourself.
3. Do some paid advertising on Facebook. However, experienced marketers recommend that you do not promote your main website. Instead, they say to promote a landing page that lets you capture the contact information of your readers for future follow up. The reason is, building an email list is one of the primary strategies you should use Social Network branding for.
Branding yourself through Social Networking may not bring you immediate online income. That’s okay because the purpose of branding is to develop your reputation over the long term as a trusted and preferred source for the products and services you offer in your niche. Work on your branding strategies every day!

Oct 20th 2010 at 8:36 AM by GTBulmer Hello, Fred: Thank you for posting a comment here and for the supportive remark. When I first started marketing online, I was too impatient to "worry" about branding. I just wanted to sell stuff! Since then, I've learned that for the average Internet Marketing entrepreneur, it takes time to build a reputation so people WILL buy stuff from you. That's where and why it is so important to work on branding yourself right from the first instant you start marketing online. :-)
