Brand yourself

Jul 2nd 2010 at 2:44 AM

You have made the right decision to join Faceplate. Well done you are on your way to brand yourself on the Net. It is really important to sell yourself so make sure that you upload a photo for all programs you belong to. Your face is unique and it is a well known Internet psychology fact that people are drawn to faces on a page. That being the case make saure its your face they see.

As the old saying goes, "Your face is your fortune". All you need is a face, can be handsome, beautiful. grumpy, sad, you choose just get it out there!

I use the branding machine on 1Modern Solution and this has worked very well for me. It is easy to use and allows you to customise and brand your 1Modern Solution pages, Give it a try and if you join up I will gift you 250 credits to get your face out there.

I have been talking a lot about brandign lately. I am not sure any one method truly works. Also I am finding a brand is not enough in this fast paced world. You need so much more than just a brand. You need full blown communities that surround you and look up to you for advice and hang on the words you say. I have only just begun to realize this but I do believe its where marketing is heading. I will have to check the link out, thanks for the share.

As a photographer I am surprised by how many people are happy to upload fuzzy or uninteresting pictures of themselves.

I like to be an anonymous and let other shine. This seems impossible in this business.

Hello, Grant: It is so true: if you want to succeed big-time online, you've got to brand yourself! A lot of aspiring marketers start out being very timid about letting others know who they "really" are, but if you are serious about your Internet Marketing business, you have to work at branding yourself. :-)

I just picked up a book yesterday called The Zen Of Social Media Marketing by Shama Hyder Kabani and it also talks about the value of branding yourself. It looks like it should be a good read.

A personal profile picture is very important. Especially across social networks, where people go to meet people.

I think that it is important to have a photo that captures your essence, whether you are playful, serious, professional, etc. Putting forth the "real you" helps draw people to you.

I agree. When people see your face everyhere they will get used to you and recognize you. i trie to create as much spashes and banners with my face on it as possible. This involves some work but i think it will be wortwhile in de long run. Please read also my articles about branding on muy faceplate http://www.imfaceplate.com/webmiep

I will check that site out you mentioned. I have photos saved on my computer that I use mostly. I feel that people trust you more when they see a picture of you...they know you are for real and probably know what you are talking about when you present your product to them.

I have always used my own picture everywhere I am part of. I also have this tendency to avoid the 'faceless' like plague.

Indeed, building a brand is important for business and your self. But is it a picture, logo name or even personality that should be promoted? This is more complex process which one should begin as soon as starting a business. This about attitude, colours, atmosphere, customer care, content, promises and their delivery, feelings, experience or even exceeding expectations, adding value and doing things differently/better than competition. There is a lot more to consider as the whole business is based on this. So, a good branding advise is something that should NOT be underestimated! I couldn't agree more with 'zeus8894' too.

Yes, branding is about getting you, your face, what you stand for, your recommendations, knowledge, help, support, honesty infront of as many ppl as possible... Build relationship with other ppl. People buy from people not from companies. Yes ppl also buy brands they like from ppl they like. I agree a face on a page in a TE is a good start, the next step have ppl coming to you. Using Autoresponder to build up trust, skype, faceplate, FB, articles... YouTube Videos do wonders... feel free to contact me (see my faceplate lol)

An online "brand" is more than a profile picture or avatar, as I see it. An online "brand" is the expertise, articulateness and character of the online personality because that's what we all really are, online personalities, not online pics!

More then a photo or a program for branding I have found consistent advice, even at the cost of giving information at times with no link at all and a honest approach in dealing with people will brand the you well before the face. While your face is your brand what's in a face if there is no opinion behind it. I know what Joel Comm and Mike Filsame both look like and am faster to buy from Joel then Mike because of the impressions they leave on a personal basis and in the products they create. Mike I know is faster to dust off and sell an update at a massive price, Joel is more apt to do something amazing like, "The Next Internet Millionaire". So in branding think about the you that you wish to be remembered. Is it the guy that every time I see his face, there is a ad attached or the lady that was so helpful last week when I needed that quote for my article?
