Batteries modern laptops are vulnerable to hacker attacks
When we think about data security and possible vulnerabilities of our computer systems, laptop battery is not associated with hacker attacks, says Slashgear.
However, as discovered by the security engineer Charlie Miller, batteries modern laptops in pakistan can be just as "broken", as well as any other sites, and this kind of "attack" is much harder to find - that it became clear after careful consideration of several batteries used in models of MacBook, MacBook Pro and MacBook Air.
According to Miller, modern notebook batteries contain their own program shell cores for monitoring battery level, which allows the operating system to check the rate and react accordingly.
Even if your notebook is turned off, the lithium-ion battery "knows" when to turn off the charging. In addition, the battery also "can" define and regulate your heat level to support and secure the necessary temperature.Examining apple mackbook air, Miller found that all of the chips embedded in the battery use the same default password.
This means that an attacker who became known passwords, can find a way to control the shell the chip, and, in turn, control the battery to cause harm to the system. There are many ways to attack, including a ban recharge the battery, the ban on the regulation of heat exchange, which could lead to physical damage, and the introduction of malware that infects your computer.
The last version of the script may cause the system to be re-infected again and again, even after cleaning and reinstall all of the software itself, if the battery is replaced. Miller posted his findings in Apple laptops and Texas Instruments, and is expected to illuminate such vulnerability on August conference Black Hat, on security.
He also proposed a way to solve the problem, which he called "Caulkgun", by which the default password the battery is replaced with rows of arbitrary. However, such a change of passwords can create a number of problems when you upgrade the OS.
