Approaching Network Marketing Like a Medical Student Approaches his Profession

During one of my readings, I came across an interesting contrast between the expectations between a medical student and an network marketer. And it pretty much reveals what the average person thinks when they sign up with a network marketing company. And if he can change his thinking, he will obtain the goals he set for him set.

So how does a medical student differ from a network marketer when it comes to expectations? A person interested in becoming a doctor can not buy a medical degree although she has to invest between $150,000 to $300,000. Just imagine how much trouble a medical school would be in if they sold medical degrees for that amount of money or less and sent untrained people out in to the medical community thinking they are quaified to perform medical procedures. We know the results would be castastrophic.

Although no one is losing their lives because of untrained network marketers, why shouldn't people be required to be trained in network marketing. Thus far no one has been trained effectively by a network marketing company on how to build a network marketing organization. People have only been trained about a companies corporate staff and their experience, compensation plan and the product or service being marketed. The only training network marketers gets regarding building an organization is what website or presentation call to send people to, a training call on how to make a cold, where to buy their leads and how to make a list of family and friends. This is not effective because network marketing is about people and none of the above. It is about relationship that take time to build.

Since it only take a push of a button to get started with a network marketing company why rush. Take your time and invest your time in learning how to develop relationships and teaching other how to do the same. Once you have build a large network of relationship developers then you can pick what company you want to market. This is no different than a medical student. A medical student first chooses to learn how the body works in order to treat it then she decides which hospital she wants to  work for. Not the other way around.

Get the training you need first and then make as much money as you want.
