3 Quick Ways to Get FREE Traffic

Talk to almost anybody in the field of Internet Marketing and they will tell you that one of the biggest challenges facing most marketers, especially new marketers, is getting traffic to their home business website. If you know how, there’s a ton of ways to do it. Here are 3 quick ways to get free traffic to your website.

By the way, I learned these three free traffic methods (and many more) from my marketing mentors and the first thing they taught me was to take action every day to build my Internet home business. “Even if you only have half an hour each day, you should choose at least one recommended traffic tip and apply it,” they said. The key is to do something every day.

1) Get a Backlink and exposure on a High PR Website

Getting good backlinks to your website helps to increase the search engine rank of your site. The higher the PR on the site you are getting a backlink from, the better it is for your site. (PR8) is an online community that offers more than 1.5 million articles and 150,000 videos covering a wide variety of topics. This content is provided by a combination of experts and regular people.

Here’s how to get a backlink: Visit, register as a member, log in and edit your profile. Fill in whatever details you would like, but be sure to include your website URL in the Web Site box. Also, enter a few details into the “About Me” box. Include your URL in the “About Me” box and if you know how, use your keywords in the anchor text. After you click the button to save your info, check your public profile to make sure everything looks good.

That’s it. You will get a high quality backlink and you may get traffic from other members.

2) Participate in Yahoo Answers

When you answer questions on Yahoo Answers, you can leave a link to your website. This won’t give you a backlink, but it does give you exposure, and if your answer is well thought out, readers will be motivated to visit your website to see what else you have to offer.

Visit Yahoo Answers and log in or sign up. Fill in your profile. Be sure to include links to your website or blog. Next, go to the Yahoo Answers Home page and search for questions you can answer, related to the topic or theme of your website.

Once you have found relevant questions, choose two to answer using examples, references or insight from your own experience. Include a link to your website in the “sources” box.

3) Visit and add a bookmark button to your website

Most home business websites and blogs already have bookmark buttons these days and those that don’t should. If you have a WordPress blog, you can also check your WordPress plugins for this button.

The benefit to doing this is it makes it easy for your visitors to bookmark and share your content. When they do, it will help to send more free traffic to your site!

These 3 quick ways to get free traffic are nothing new. But I am always surprised at how many people have not heard of some of the free traffic methods that many experienced Internet Marketers take for granted.

If you would like to receive a free eBook that provides 30 ways to get free website traffic in 30 minutes or less, simply sign up for the Affiliate Power Central Home Business Tips Newsletter. When you do, you will also receive another eBook with 10 free SEO tools, and a report on how to set up a money-making website in less than a week.

Whether you apply the 3 quick ways to get free traffic as outlined in this article, or you take advantage of the 30 ways explained in the free eBook, you will improve the traffic to your home business website and will attract more prospective customers. Best of success to you!

Hi GT, I am a newbie and I agreed 100% that getting traffic to my website is the most difficult part of internet marketing. Thanks for your tips and I will definitely try it.

Hi, Joe: Very simply put, a backlink is a link to your website that is placed on another website. What that means is, when someone clicks that link on another website, it sends them to your website.

There are a variety of ways to get your website link placed on other websites:

- You could write articles for websites or for article directories and include your website link in the author's resource box that you are allowed to include with the article;

- You could visit blogs that are related to your website content and post comments on those blogs. Some blogs have "no follow" coding, meaning you will NOT get a backlink. But many blogs are do-follow blogs. You may have to research "no follow" and "do follow" to understand how that works;

- You can join business and marketing forums and include your website link in your forum signatures;

- When you join social networking sites like IM faceplate, your website link in your profile (and other places on the site) are backlinks;

These are just a couple more common ways to get backlinks. Again, a backlink is simply getting your website link posted on other websites. The more popular that website, the stronger the backlink is for you.

Nice suggestion. But could you write me something about backlinking and how to do it? I researched for it but it was too technical for me to understand.

Hello, Rishi: Thank you for adding the personal perspective to link-building with Yahoo Answers! You are right: we sometimes get wrapped up in the technical reasons for doing some of the marketing things we do, but the bottom line is ... we are serving real people and we need to be able to relate to them on a personal level. Thanks again! GT :-)

Hello, Bronzi (bmshepp): Thanks for your comments. I am glad to help inspire other marketers with ideas. :-)

GT I have a slightly contrary viewpoint regarding participating in Yahoo Answers for obtaining a backlink to one's own sites. Yahoo Answers is a terrific site to both get help as well as to provide help to others. It may be used to obtain backlinks by answering questions but more importantly it helps us connect with real people and invite them into our lives.

Thanks G.T. for sharing the information on the back-linking on eHow. I'm a member of eHow and I never thought about it being a (PR8) website for a backlink. I am also a member of Yahoo Answers too-and I guess I need to visit and participate more often. These are wonderful tips!

Hello, Heather: Thank you for the comments. I like your focus and your plan for how you will promote your main website when it's ready to go. Sounds very exciting! :-)
Oct 31st 2010 at 3:02 PM by HappinessOnTap
Those are some great tips GT. When my final choice of main website is up an ready, I will look into getting your book as an added resource of SEO and free traffic information. I've collected so much great advice over the past 5 years and it's better to leave no stone unturned. Now it's a matter or selecting the right group of tools and stream lining your Soc Media system to run itself on few inputs that get duplicated across your choices of channels. Great stuff GT!

Hi, John: I think we often get distracted by new projects or new methods of doing things and in the process of re-allocating our time, some things get overlooked. The real key is to keep doing SOMEthing to build traffic, so if your Yahoo Answers program fell by the wayside for a while, I am sure there was something else of value that you were doing. Keep plugging away at it! GT :-)

Hi GT I must admit that I have all but forgot about Yahoo Answers. I have not been there in a long time. I used to have good click through to my sites using it but for some reason I just stopped using it. I'll be heading there in few. Thanks John
