2 Ways To Develop Mindfullness

Acupressure

The first teaching i am going to go over is the ancient practice of acupressure, which was created thousands of years of ago in India by the holy men of India. Back then these holy men used a bed of nails, planks of wood with hundreds of nails spread across used to trigger pressure points across the body. Now I know what your thinking right now, there is no way I am sitting on a bed of nails! well don't worry, today we have a modern version called acupressure mats, this new health tool contains a fibre pad with over 3000 lotus-shaped pressure trigger points. These points stimulate internal points to increase blood flow and muscle relaxation, this leads to multiple benefits both physically and mentally. Using your acupressure mat is super easy, first just sit on it with a straight back (if you have bad posture we suggest getting a posture corrector) then sit for 5 minutes, rotate to the back, belly and neck. Do this for two weeks and you will notice a huge difference.

 

Snorkelling

My next favourite practice also goes into the subject of mindfulness and it may come across as a shock, snorkelling! Yep even at 72 years old I love getting on my full face snorkel and going to the back to get lost in an alien world. When you go snorkelling you find yourself in a new world, full of alien life that seems to fully focus your mind on the surroundings. It is within this different world that you will have an inner peace where all your thoughts melt away, no longer worrying about work, school or other daily insignificant struggles, you simply focus on the moment and this trains the brain to think more in this manner. If you can try and go snorkelling at least 3 times a week during the summer months, you will find yourself more refreshed, focused and generally happier once you leave the ocean.
