Nov 13th 2014 at 5:05 AM

Storage and organization remains among the top-most demands of modern home buyers. In fact, past studies have revealed that it remains the top priority for them and they are willing to spend more on these must-have attributes. Recent market trends have been influenced by this modified user preferences. Therefore, it can be said that having a walk in closet can increase your property’s wow factor as it organizes your living.

Those dealing in real estate can clearly say that a whopping 60% of homeowners are willing to pay extra if the master bedroom features walk in closet. Around 44% of middle aged people (between 35 to 54) view this feature as the “very important aspect”. There are two main reasons behind the popularity of these closets – space and status. Space is the most desirable thing for people as they acquire more stuff like clothing and accessories while growing older. Here, extra space allows them to enjoy a more organized living. Furthermore, a walk-in closet in the master bedroom is also a status symbol for some people. When giving a house tour, it has become more common to say “hey, check by closet” the same way as people say “hey, have you seen my new kitchen?"

People are opting for city living and looking for active lifestyle and opportunity to socialize. Their main aim is to look for building with amenities. All these changes have been observed with the dramatic changes in the world in past 30 years. As a result, investing in long-term home shifts brings a better idea than paying extra money for the needed amenities like closet to accommodate the growing demand.

People have grown so obsessed that they are even paring down their four-bedroom home to three by simply modifying one room into a big walk in closet. In a survey, it has been found that on asked by any real estate agent about the most desirable factor about new home, the homeowners promptly reply “we would fall in love with a home having walk in closet in the master bedroom”. In fact, the obsession is equally intense for the kid’s closet. The growing demands of kids and their fussy nature actually ask the parents to have a separate and spacious closet for them.

People are actually looking for long-term investment solutions with their new property. As a general convention that larger closets never go out of style, people want to invest in a home with spacious accommodation solution.
