What Is The Electronic Medical Records Archive Of Software

Dec 26th 2013 at 2:12 AM

MEDICAL Electronic Patient Record (EPR) software is rapidly replacing traditional paper-based notes used by doctors, dentists, hospitals and other NHS departments and services, as part of the Connecting Health IT program. One of the objectives of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) is to transfer 60 million records from paper to electronic patient record software for 2010. Matching patient records are an integral part of the NPfIT. EPR software allows a patient's medical history notes that is made available to all medical personnel who need access to it in different departments and locations.
Being able to share patient information across departments and locations is important because it allows the medical staff know instantly what medication a patient is taking, any allergies, and what treatment you have had, for garcontrazar that the patient receives the right treatment at the right time. Also, if a patient's personal information such as name or address change, data need only be changed once, for NHS staff in any location, such as a GP surgery, dentist or hospital, and changes are reflected throughout the NHS. Patient Administration Systems (PAS) include many features and work in tandem with the EPR software. Information such as patient referral, admission and discharge information, planning daily work schedules and live bed state support, and the situation of patients occupying beds is vital to the operation of a hospital. Having this information available in seconds allows the hospital to work effectively and efficiently. Electronic patient records (EPR) software integrates with all departments of the hospital such as maternity, operating theaters, radiology, mental health and other NHS services such as GPs and other services. PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications Storage) enables images such as x-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, cardiology and other examinations immediately accessed electronically. This saves time for patients and staff, and is much less expensive than the storage and care of film and paper based on the results. Patient scans can be accessible when they are needed. If a patient had an x-ray in Newcastle, and the image is needed in London, which will be available in seconds using PACS, instead of taking hours or days for it to be couriered or sent down via email Postal. With PACS, diagnosis and treatment can be improved, like other departments, hospitals or specialists can simultaneously view the image, and give their opinions.

Patients will also benefit as they will have to take the film around the hospital, or from one site to another, and there will be less waiting for the results, so that the treatment will be faster. For hospital staff, there will be fewer wasted appointments due to lost or unusable scans.

Security and patient confidentiality is essential. Many of the processes that have been introduced to garcontrazar no security breaches and that patient data is not compromised. Medical staff may only access electronic patient records once they have been scrutinized. This allows you to use a smart card, depending on your job title, given access to patient data they need. The staff will only have access to the information they need to do their job. A receptionist does not need the same level of access as a surgeon, a dentist and do not need the same level of access as a district nurse. The EPR Choose and Book system allows patients to book GP appointments and hospital at the time that suits you. This will help reduce the number of patients who fail to attend their appointments.
The appointment may be made by phone or online, and canceled or amended if necessary. EPR software also allows the presentation of comprehensive reports so that the cost and effectiveness of patient care, and other factors can be evaluated. Furthermore, the results can be used for research purposes so that if another patient has symptoms similar previous data can be used to assess which treatments were effective. Electronic Patient Record software is critical to the NHS NPfIT program, and will ensure that patients and staff take full advantage of current and future computer systems and IT to get the best deal and service.
