The Pain is Gone

Dec 3rd 2015 at 8:47 PM

Heel pain happens to many people for different reasons but it takes the help of a specialist to formulate a treatment plan.

A few years ago my daughter began complaining of heel pain. I shrugged it off because she was growing and tired, but soon she would cry it hurt so much. I decided it was time to take her to a specialist. A specialist that deals with foot issues is a podiatrist. I made an appointment for my daughter at a foot center in Houston, Texas. When we arrived the podiatrist was very friendly and seemed to have genuine concern for my daughter’s heel pain. The specialist asked questions about her lifestyle, activity level, history of other illnesses and pain. He also talked to us about family history. The podiatrist took x-rays of her feet and did a physical exam. Next, he began to talk to us about the causes of foot and heel pain.

The podiatrist was friendly and informative. We learned that heel pain can be caused by many things. In order to determine what causes heel pain, each person must seek the help of a professional to find out the problem. No two people have the same feet so each one has to be examined individually. It takes tests, x-rays, and lots of questions to determine exactly where the pain is coming from and how to stop it. There are many ways to treat heel pain.

Heel pain is treated differently for each person and the treatment options are based on the cause and the individual person’s medical history. A simple ice pack might work for one person whereas another one might need physical therapy. Only a foot doctor can determine how the heel pain gets treated.

When I talked to the doctor about my daughter, we all three worked together to form a plan for her individual needs. My daughter is very active and we had to take that into account when considering heel pain in Houston, TX. When we left the Houston doctor’s office that day, we were both satisfied that the heel pain was soon going to be a thing of the past.

My daughter no longer complains of heel pain. I am very grateful to the foot care clinic that I took her to in Houston, Texas. I’m afraid that if I hadn’t taken her to get treatment, she would still be suffering. It could have affected her active lifestyle, her participation in sports, and maybe even her ability to drive. The treatment plan that we came up with worked for her. It was nice to have a podiatrist that was willing to come up with options as a team instead of us being told what to do. After we began the treatment plan, we had several follow-up appointments so that the doctor could check on my daughter’s heel pain . He was just as pleased with her progress as we were. The best thing I did for my daughter was to take her to a heel pain specialist in Houston, Texas.
