The 3 Tops Reasons For Urgent Care

Sep 30th 2015 at 11:04 PM

Urgent care center are available for people who need medical care after hours. It can take days to get an appointment, and some medical issues can’t wait. Here are the top 3 reasons why people should go to an urgent care center.

Urgent care is an important part of the healthcare system. This is because they reduce the number of non-emergent patience who visit the emergency room. If the issue isn’t life or death, you should go to an urgent care center if it’s too severe to wait for an appointment with your regular healthcare provider. Here are the top 3 reasons why you should go to urgent care.

Fevers aren’t always a reason to go to urgent care, or even a doctor. A fever is a sign that your body is working properly to fight an infection in your body. In fact, it’s best not to medicate a fever, because the higher your fever is, the harder it’s fighting. Of course, if a fever is climbing too high, medicating it might be your best option. This is also when you may want to visit an urgent care. If your fever is going higher than 103, it could mean that you have a bacterial infection and you need antibiotics to bring your fever down. If the patient is elderly, a newborn baby or someone with an autoimmune disorder, they should go to the emergency room before the fever gets that high. If you aren’t sure, you can call your local emergency room to ask a nurse.

If you injured one of your limbs such as your ankle or your arm, and the bone isn’t protruding through the skin, it’s something that can be dealt with at an urgent care center. You don’t want to wait to be seen, because improper care or wrapping could cause it to heal improperly. However, it’s not an emergency either. Moderate back problems are also considered an urgent care issue. If you aren’t sure what is considered moderate, consider if you can walk or not. If you can walk to the car, especially if you can drive yourself, it’s not a severe back problem.

Other problems like skin rashes, skin infections and urinary tract infections are all something you should go to urgent care for. They are extremely uncomfortable, and that’s not something that you should have to wait to be seen for.

Urgent care is a great way to be seen for injuries and illnesses that can’t wait for an opening with your healthcare provider, but aren’t emergent enough to take resources away from the emergency room. If you have a persistent fever or a painful yet non-life threatening injury that requires radiology service in San Diego, visit this website.
