Vitamin D

Vitamin D supplementation may enhance the ability to exercise in patients with lung disease , chronic obstructive (COPD). As we know, the COPD patients feel very difficult when performing any exercise in a long time due to breathing difficulties. Even a short exercises also make the patients found it hard to breathe. However, the amount of vitamin D supplementation helps COPD patients improve their exercise capacity.

A study done in Belgium included 50 COPD subjects. The patients were divided into 2 groups, one group is given a specific dose of Vitamin D, 2nd team will take a placebo pill (placebo pill psychology) daily for 3 months. The dose of vitamin D is required each patient to ensure tolerance 100,000 IU of vitamin D every month. After completion of the study, the health status of each participant will be evaluated based on various parameters including respiratory muscle function and exercise ability.

Studies have shown that patients using adequate doses of vitamin D have respiratory muscle function better and have the ability to practice the exercises for a period longer than patients with vitamin D deficiency .

In another study, it was observed that vitamin D helps patients with tuberculosis (TB) feel easier. Research conducted on more than 10,000 Korean adults showed a significant improvement in lung capacity due to vitamin D supplementation. Lung function related to blood levels of vitamin D is also confirmed in this study. The researchers said that those who suffer from tuberculosis and vitamin D levels in the blood are low. Vitamin C

Vitamin C helps reduce bronchial spasms usually occur during or after the exercise. Status bronchospasm caused by exercise (EIB) makes the airways become inflamed thus restricting the free flow of air into the lungs. EIB is often the expression of coughing, wheezing and shortness of breath. Many studies have also demonstrated that vitamin C reduces the inflammatory response, thus reducing the status of bronchospasm due to exercise. Vitamin C plays an active role as an anti-inflammatory and reduces airway narrowing in EIB.

Vitamin A

Vitamin A not only good for the eyes but also support maintaining normal lung function. Vitamin A helps restore and strengthen the lining of the lungs. Vitamin A maintains the function of the cell membrane protects the lung from pathogens in the air. Therefore, patients with pulmonary problems impede respiration should increase the amount of vitamin A in the body.

Vitamin B12

Our bodies due to vitamin B12 to produce healthy red blood cells (RBCs). A study involving 40,000 women aged over 45 said that regular consumption of vitamin E in reducing the 10-year period 10% of COPD development. Those who want additional vitamin E should use the natural form of vitamin E d-beta-tococherol and d-alpha-tocopherol to see the benefits of it. However, the American Cancer Society warned that people should not use vitamin E in the long run because it increases the risk of developing lung cancer.
