- Foods containing vitamin C: Antioxidants help protect the eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays. Take supplements of at least 200 mg per day of vitamin C by eating plenty of fruits rich in vitamin C include broccoli, strawberries, and citrus fruits.

- Foods rich in omega-3: omega -3 studies show that fat, omega-3 in salmon and tuna may reduce the risk of cataracts and macular degeneration.

Add salmon and tuna into your diet twice a week, or fish oil supplements containing DHA. Omega -3 have the greatest impact on your vision.

Lean red meat, chicken and nuts are rich sources of zinc. Try to at least 8 mg of zinc supplement every day.

Ophthalmologists recommend: Wear sunglasses
