Gastrointestinal symptoms

Oct 9th 2013 at 12:06 AM

Schools should be informed of the steps to be taken in the presence of allergic reactions.
There are several medications that alleviate the symptoms of food allergy are not part of the anaphylactic reaction.
The Antihistamines relieve gastrointestinal symptoms, the hives and runny nose.

Bronchodilators are useful to relieve asthma symptoms. These medications are administered after contact with the food allergen and are not useful in the prevention of allergic reaction.

There are no reliable remedies that can be administered prior to eating a certain food to avoid an allergic reaction.
Some treatments "experimental" to food allergies, including injections of extracts containing the food to which the patient is allergic administered regularly over a long period of time to "desensitize" the patient, their effects have not yet been scientifically proven.
It is commonly believed that many diseases are caused by food allergies, but there is insufficient evidence or contradicts this belief.
For example, there is controversy whether migraine may be caused by food allergy. Some studies show that migraine patients can trigger pain by histamine and other substances in food.

The hard part is to determine whether food allergies actually cause migraines in these people.
A controversial treatment of food allergic reaction consists in placing a dilute solution of a particular food under the tongue for half an hour before the patient eats that food. This would counteract the allergic reaction on subsequent exposure to the food allergen.
