In a study by Dr. Francisco Lopez-Jimenez - heart specialist at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, U.S., scientists have collected data from more than 12,000 men and women in the United States. Participants were measured weight, height, waist and hips.

Explanations for these results, Dr. Gregg Fonarow, a professor of Cardiology University of California, Los Angeles explains that " abdominal obesity is the presence of excess fat in the abdomen.
