Jun 29th 2014 at 9:06 PM

Ethanol in the body immediately after ingestion is converted into acetaldehyde, which in turn means increased sensitivity of the skin to dangerous UV radiation is explained by scientists from the Faculty of Milan.

Their results are based on analysis of data collected for the purpose of sixteen previous research, involving thousands of volunteers.

The average daily intake of alcohol units associated with an average 20% higher risk of developing skin cancer. Any further increase in the daily intake of alcohol

has led to a proportional increase in the risk of becoming ill for skin cancer, including melanoma. Previous research has linked alcohol with a higher risk of becoming ill for seven other types of cancer.
