3 Genius Tricks for Getting Rid of Scars and Stretch Marks
Most women have to deal with stretch marks at some point in their life. Although stretch marks are commonly associated with pregnancy, they can occur at any time of life. Stretch marks appear when the shape of the body changes too quickly. Typically, this takes place during pregnancy or a time period marked by rapid weight gain. Rapid growth, genetics or stress can all contribute to stretch marks. Individuals may suffer from stretch marks on their stomach, breasts, thighs, bottom or upper arms.
How Do Stretch Marks Work?
For most people, the skin is comprised of three layers. The hypodermic layer, or subcutaneous layer, is located the deepest. While the epidermis is the outer layer of the skin, the dermis is located in the middle. Stretch marks appear within the dermis of the skin. Basically, the connective tissue in the dermis is stretched past its flexibility. This causes the skin to rapidly expand beyond its limits and stretch marks form.
When the skin is stretched, it causes the collagen levels and elasticity of the skin to decrease. Basically, this causes fine scars that look red to appear on the surface of the skin. As the red marks age, they start to turn into a silvery line on the surface of the skin. If you have stretch marks and feel self-conscious, you can seek treatment through one of the following three remedies.
Castor Oil and Aloe Vera
For the best results, many people treat their stretch marks with two products at the same time. Castor oil and aloe vera are both known for treating stretch marks. With aloe vera, you should purchase a gel form of the plant and rub it into the stretch marks. This gel should remain within the skin for roughly 15 minutes. Once this time period is up, you can rinse the skin with lukewarm water and dry it off. In addition to reducing stretch marks, the aloe vera will help to sooth and heal your skin. If you have extra aloe vera gel, you can also apply it to any dry areas of your skin. If possible add castor oil to your daily skin care regimen.
After using aloe vera, you apply castor oil to the stretch marks. Put about a quarter-sized amount in your hand. Using circular motions, massage it into your stretch marks for about five to ten minutes. Afterward, use a thin, cotton cloth to wrap the area. Once the stretch marks are covered in a cotton cloth, set a heating pad or a hot water pad over the cloth. The heat source should be left on the affected area for about 30 minutes. For the best results, you should use castor oil and aloe vera daily for one month. With consistent use, you will be able to reduce your stretch marks.
Cocoa Butter for Smoother Skin
Just the words "cocoa butter" call to mind soft, luxurious skin. This natural moisturizer is wonderful for the skin. While it nourishes and replenishes your skin, cocoa butter can also reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks. Like most natural techniques, cocoa butter takes time to be effective. You will need to use it twice each day for about two months for it to effectively remove some of your stretch marks.
The basic way to treat your stretch marks with cocoa butter is to apply it with circular motions on your skin. If you want a super-charged skincare treatment for stretch marks, you can buy some wheat germ oil, vitamin E oil, grated beeswax and apricot kernel oil. In a larger container, mix two teaspoons of the beeswax, one teaspoon of vitamin E oil, one tablespoon of wheat germ oil, one teaspoon of apricot kernel oil and half a cup of cocoa butter. To get this mixture to truly mix together, you will need to heat it up and stir it. Once the mixture has been made, you can store it in your refrigerator for weeks at a time. Like normal cocoa butter treatments, you should apply the cream at least two times each day.
Although lemon juice is known for its bleaching power, potato juice is actually a top way for reducing stretch marks. To use this technique, all you need to have is a basic potato. After rinsing off the medium potato, cut it into fairly thick slices. You can pick up each slice and rub it in circular motions against your stretch marks. Once you have covered your stretch marks in potato juice, you should let the juice dry completely. When the juice has finally dried, you can rinse is off using lukewarm water. If you use potato juice consistently, you will be able to naturally encourage the cells in your skin to rejuvenate. Nowadays people are using coconut oil for face as well as for stretch marks.
If you are tired of having stretch marks, there are options. All of the previous three techniques can help to reduce the appearance of scars and stretch marks on your skin. You can use an individual treatment or mix several of them. For best results, make sure to use the treatment daily for a minimum of several weeks.
