One study divided a group of 164 overweight women with between 25 and 44 years, in two groups. The first group performed a weight training 2 times per week for 2 years. The other group received brochures suggesting to do 30 minutes of aerobic exercise daily. After two years, the group went to the gym to lose 4% of fat, while the group has not lost a gram brochures.
Probably just read about exercise, instead of making them ... Based on this study, the authors concluded that young women who go to the gym can expect to gain weight less over the years, especially in the abdominal area.
I know for us, bodybuilders, this was obviously a long time, but until now most of the recommendations relate only aerobic exercise, not a workout with weights. And I must say that I have noticed this over the years, people think that training bodybuilders develop muscles and so do not notice that they have little fat on the abdomen . Therefore, neither too are considered specialists in weight loss programs.
The idea is that any movement consumes calories and, therefore, helps weight loss , but because aerobic exercise (running, swimming, cycling etc..) use fat as an energy source, and the anaerobic (sprint, weightlifting, bodybuilding, powerlifting, etc.. ) use as a source of carbohydrates stored in muscle energy (glycogen), there is the idea that the most suitable weight loss exercises are aerobic.
