The CPR classes are a necessity for all the people who relate to the medical profession and for those who want to learn it to safeguard their friend and family. Several employers need their staff to be CPR certified. Such employers also provide their staff training for these courses. CPR certifications

There are mainly three main types of certification courses. Depending on the requirement people, opt for different courses.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Association, also known as (AHA) is the most preferred certification course. This is because it is useful for people who work at the hospital. This certification is commonly required in most of the hospitals. The duration of this course lasts for two years.

American Red Cross

These course cards last only for one year, which is lesser than the expiry of other two courses certification. In addition, they are not widely accepted in all hospitals, while the cost of the course remains same as AHA.

American Safety and Health Institute

This course is mainly for non- medical professionals and its validity are same as that of AHA i.e. 2 years. These courses are inexpensive and avail a book, which has updated guidelines of CPR.

Class specifications


These are some of the most basic CPR classes, which mainly cover adult, child and Infant. This class is designed perfectly for parents, teachers, personal trainers, security guards, babysitters, etc. The course helps them handle situations of conscious and unconscious chocking among kids and adults. It is best to certify the course from American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI).


BLS (Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider)

These courses are designed especially for medical personnel, fire-fighters, paramedics, doctors, dentists, and nurses. It mainly covers the portions of course, which include CPR, AED, and the bag-valve-mask. Anyone who is planning to get into medical profession or handle any kind of work in hospital can take up this course.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer

These courses are similar to that of BLS course, but the training has to be done under American Red Cross. These classes are less in demand as it is not accepted in all the hospitals and medical centres.
