Toe Jobs Becoming a Hit

Apr 30th 2012 at 11:46 PM

In the world today, it is accepted that for one to be called ‘beautiful’ she must sacrifice something. For instance, if one wishes to shed off a few pounds she has to undergo a strict diet and regular exercise. This notion is very much true for celebrities, who are always the center of attention and must always look perfect for the camera. One such ‘sacrifice’ that is currently gaining popularity is dermal fillers for the feet.

Many know that dermal fillers are usually placed in the face or near the mouth to have fuller lips or a younger look, but nowadays these fillers have found another place in the human anatomy. Loub jobs, or toe jobs as it is commonly known, are cosmetic procedures wherein dermal fillers are usually placed in the toes, heels, and balls of the feet to help women endure wearing stilettos for longer hours. They provide additional padding for the feet, so women are able to wear towering heels without feeling any pain or discomfort. However, it only lasts for up to 6 months so women should expect a follow up with their surgeons if they want the pain-free feeling to last.

In recent studies, it was found that women opting to have toe jobs have doubled compared last year. This was connected to the recent boom in the sales of 6-inch stilettos over the past 12 months. The sales, as reported, quadrupled because of the recent celebrity fad over 7-inch stilettos. A-list celebrities such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Cheryl Cole and Victoria Beckham are just a few names who are constantly spotted wearing these towering heels. With these big names, it is not impossible for other women to try and wear the same footwear, and thus go for toe jobs.

As with anything in the world, having toe jobs has its consequences. For one, the recent surge in the number of toe job patients has also shown a direct increase with another cosmetic procedure- tummy tuck. The reason is that, when a woman wears high heels her whole body curves outwards. This is the main reason why wearing heels can be sexy, for some. However, it also pulls on the pelvis, making the abdomen go out. For women who do not have that flat abdomen, it may be quite uninviting to look at.  Of course, surgeons may not have any qualms about this because this is another patient they can operate on.

Another thing that women should consider is the effect of wearing very high heels on their posture. When one wears high heels, it somewhat pushes the breast and abdomen outward. This can be appealing to some degree, but as the height of the heels is increased, the degree of curvature of the body also increases. This outward curvature of the body, called lordosis, may also cause intervertebral disk compression. As the body curves outward, there is increased pressure placed on the spinal column which can impinge on the spinal cord. When this happens, pain and discomfort can definitely be felt. The person may tire easily and wouldn’t be able to tolerate that much walking or lifting of heavy objects.

Beauty comes at a cost. Some people, like celebrities, have to endure wearing heels for long hours and always look fresh for the camera. With the help of technology, they now have a way of staying beautiful without any pain. This is not exclusively for celebrities; even ordinary people who want to wear the same clothes or just look like their favorite actress can do so. Just remember to weigh all factors carefully before deciding.
