The making of a Miss India

Apr 14th 2016 at 1:26 AM

Sushruthi is a trained dancer, who has been a part of one of Bengaluru's top dance troupes, Nritarutya, and has always harboured dreams of being an architect and interior designer. Modeling happened by chance, she tells us. "Being a student of architecture, we have always done sets and costumes for different events as part of our projects for design. At one such fashion event, someone asked me if I would be interested in taking part. I said to myself, I am tall and look pretty enough, so I went ahead. I was adjudged the Best Model at that event, coincidentally, and this boosted my confidence. I've always been a dancer, so I have the experience of being on stage, which has added to my confidence," she says.

Sushruthi spent her initial years in the US, after which she studied at the Delhi Public School, South Bengaluru. She then went on to pursue architecture, a childhood dream of hers. "I've always been fond of designing and have wanted to be an architect and interior designer since I was in school. In fact, if you ask me how I see myself five years from now, I'd say I would be a supermodel-turned-architect and interior designer. The past year, after my first tryst with fbb Femina Miss India, ensured I began working with many of the top modelling agencies. This has made me like modelling as a career," she says.

Sushruthi tells us that she considers fellow model and Miss Supranational 2014 Asha Bhat one of the people who has inspired her. "She is someone I have known since college, since we studied together and were part of the same dance troupe. I was extremely delighted that she made it so big after winning the pageant. The fact that she is someone I've known so closely and has achieved so much in such a short time made me believe in myself and that even I could harbour such dreams," reveals Sushruthi. Currently living in Mumbai, working and training for her international pageant, she is also waiting to return to Bengaluru to celebrate her win with her close ones in her hometown.Read more at:http://www.queenieprom.co.uk/prom-dresses-london-uk | http://www.queenieprom.co.uk/prom-dresses-manchester-uk
