Get the look: Holiday essentials
Where possible, decant bigger bottles into smaller ones. Shampoo, conditioner and face cleanser can all be downsized. Decant a small amount of coconut oil to use as a treatment for your hair — swimming in chlorine and salt will be a little taxing on your hair and leave you with lots of unsightly frizz.
Coconut oil also doubles as a great body and face moisturiser.
The first product to pack should be sunscreen for the face and body. My aim on holiday is to try and give my skin a holiday too. I’ll do my best to avoid wearing foundation and concealer, saving it for special nights out instead of all day, every day.
If the idea of no coverage makes you want to stay home, try a mineral powder foundation instead — this will be much lighter on your skin.
Forget about packing waterproof mascara, they smudge in the heat.
Instead, before you go, book into a beauty therapist and get your brows and lashes tinted.
This way you won’t need to think twice about swimming.
Less is more
I like to pack a small tube of lip and cheek tint, (Becca Beach Tint, $42, available online). This is the perfect stain to apply to your lips and cheeks, plus it is waterproof and sweat proof.
You can also softly blend this across your eyelids for a subtle sun-kissed look.
While I’m advocating little-to-no make-up this summer holiday, you do need to be prepared for a night out.
Pack a black or brown kohl pencil to create a smudged, smoky eye line. Set your line with some translucent powder (any powder product — eye shadow, blush or bronzer — will work to set the line).
If you’re attending a special event, consider a product called Face Saver (available from most chemists, $28).
I wouldn’t recommend this product for everyday use because it contains aluminium which can block your pores but it is great for random, one-off use because it works in a similar way to an antiperspirant for the face. It will help to keep your make-up lasting all day, regardless of how humid it becomes.
To add a little extra wow, without using much space, take a favourite bright lipstick. A fuchsia, burnt orange or red will give your look more glamour in an effortless way.Read more at:http://www.marieprom.co.uk/backless-prom-dresses
