It’s during the festive holidays that many of us can cause irreparable harm to ourselves in the name of fun and being carefree. There’s a thin line between having a great time and being reckless, as many have found out to their cost. - Don’t drink too much
This is the big one. Alcohol is, of course, rather fun but it’s not very good for you. In moderation, it’s a great way to relax and enjoy yourself. The problem is in excess, it can have awful effects on your mental and physical health and it can lead to you making some very poor judgements. It should never become necessary to have a drink, it should be something that you can use to help you to escape stress, not your sole avenue. - Eat well
Christmas seems to be the only time of the year when it’s socially acceptable to scoffing a dessert regardless of the time of day. Mince pies, cakes, puddings, bars of chocolate and slices of cheesecake, all usual grazing foods during the holiday period. It’s certainly delicious, but think about the damage it will be doing to your teeth and your waist size. The sheer amount of indulgence that goes on over christmas has become a seeming inevitability and now people aren’t happy unless they’re stuffing their faces with someone loaded with sugar, double cream or butter. We all tend to be rather sedentary at this time of year. It’s cold outside, the weather is almost always terrible, the endless gorgings leave us bloated and sleepy, unwilling to venture too far away from the sofas and the comfy chairs. It’s all rather twisted though, because our increased consumption and disregard for nutrition will inevitably cause problems that only a good long walk or an hour at the gym will fix. It may not be ideal, and working out may not feel relaxing, but a little work out over christmas can save you weeks of extra stress once everything is over and none of your clothes even come close to fitting anymore.
