Boost collagen production and keep away wrinkles and sagging

Jun 22nd 2015 at 12:07 AM

Collagen is necessary for keeping the skin youthful and free of wrinkles. Collagen, which is protein based, keeps the skin youthful by holding it together, firming it and giving elasticity. Collagen production is high at a young age but it starts to diminish as you get older. As well, due to prolonged sun exposure and bad habits, your skin will start sagging, your eyes will droop, and wrinkles will form as you grow old. If you want to age beautifully, you can boost your collagen production by doing the following things.

First, you have to change your bad habits. If you smoke, you are increasing the rate at which you age. One way that smoking ages your skin is by thinning capillaries which are essential for supplying oxygen and nutrients to your skin. When your skin lacks oxygen and nutrients, it dies. Smoking is also dangerous for your skin because it triggers production of enzymes which break down collagen in the skin. Therefore, if you keep smoking after an eye lift, the results will diminish faster because the collagen in your skin is being broken down by harmful enzymes.

The second thing you should do to boost collagen production is to mind what you ingest. Vitamins, especially vitamin C, are very important for boosting collagen production. Research has shown that most women over 40 who take a lot of vitamin C foods have a lesser likelihood of getting wrinkles and sagging skin. Vitamin C is necessary for amino acids to link and form protein (collagen). As such, you should ingest foods high in vitamin C such as green leafy vegetables, oranges, red pepper and tomatoes. You can also add vitamin supplements to your diet. In addition to eating enough vitamins, you should eat the right proteins. Certain plant proteins are a good source of oestrogen, which is a necessary ingredient for making collagen. Oestrogen production reduces as you age, which in turn cause wrinkles and creases to develop. Foods such as soy, legumes, chick peas, and nuts have high levels of naturally occurring oestrogen and you should incorporate them in your diet.Another important aspect of diet is taking foods that have antioxidant properties. Antioxidants prevent aging by fighting free radicals that attach to healthy skin cells. Green tea, spinach, kale, paprika and watercress are good antioxidant foods.

Third, you have to adopt good habits. A great habit for good skin health is exfoliation. When you exfoliate, you remove dead skin and trigger production of new younger skin. Exfoliating will complement results from procedures such as an eyelid liftby bringing a youthful appearance to your whole face. Exfoliate using products that have been rated as having the best effects. In addition to exfoliation, massage your face daily to plump it up andboost blood circulation. When you do the above, your collagen levels will increase and you will keep away wrinkles and sagging.
