Losing weight is never easy. The only proven way to shed those pounds is by eating less and moving more; however, there are some things you can do to make the process faster--and in this case, tastier.

By carefully choosing the right spices to season your food, you can speed up your weight loss. Kaboodle.com has identified five common spices that not only add flavor, but also help you lose weight.

1. Cinnamon
As little as one teaspoon of cinnamon per day can reduce blood sugar and help your body process carbohydrates, which in turn will help you lose weight. Cinnamon also has two other benefits. It helps lower LDL ("bad") cholesterol by 7 percent to 27 percent and helps lower total cholesterol by 12 percent to 26 percent. In addition, cinnamon has been shown to prevent metabolic syndrome, which is commonly a precursor to type 2 diabetes. Warning! Don't overdo it. Cinnamon contains coumarin, a chemical that can lead to liver damage if consumed in very large amounts.

2. Cayenne
The main ingredient in spicy cayenne is capsaicin. Also found in hot peppers, capsaicin is known to burn fat and stimulate the central nervous system to produce heat, which burns calories. Capsaicin also acts as an appetite suppressant. If you don't like spicy cuisine, capsaicin works just as well in a capsule form.

3. Black Pepper
Pepper not only helps improve digestion by promoting the absorption of nutrients in tissues all over the body, but also its main ingredient, piperine, boosts fat metabolism by as much as 8 percent for several hours after ingesting it. For the biggest punch, use freshly ground pepper, which has the most concentrated amounts of piperine.

4. Mustard Seed
Spicy mustard helps you lose weight by boosting metabolism so you'll burn fat more quickly. Just one teaspoon of hot mustard can boost your metabolism for several hours after eating by as much as 25 percent. That means, if you eat a 700-calorie meal and include a teaspoon of hot mustard in it, you'll burn an additional 45 calories.

5. Ginger
Ginger is an effective diuretic, helping you eliminate urine. It also improves gastric mobility, pushing food and waste through the digestive system, while it hinders the absorption of cholesterol.
