Exercise For A Golfer…Don’t Fear it

Jul 28th 2010 at 12:39 PM

Exercise for a professional golfer is widely used. Despite the success many professionals have enjoyed, and continue to enjoy in their game, mainly because of golf-specific exercises, many amateur golfers still shun any golf specific exercises.

That said, what is your reason for not accepting the facts? let me give you some of the most common and let you choose from the list.:
1. I have no time for golf-specific exercise.
2. I am just a hacker why do I need golf-specific exercises?
3. What good would golf-specific exercise do for a fat guy like me?
4. I can't afford a trainer like the professionals.
5. I don't want to develop muscles.

There are many golf specific exercises that can be done during your warm up. You do warm up? A runner does not just head out the door and run they stretch their muscles to avoid injury. So must a golfer. if only taking a few hard swings, or putting a club between your elbows and do twist and bends. Using a weighted club to pull on your muscles will add distance to your drives.
Even Hackers can help their game by doing some simple things before play. use your putter like a pendulum and swing it back and forth with out hitting any balls. Take your driver and slowly swing it back over your shoulder as far as you can without losing balance, then release it slowly thru to the end of a drive as far as your body will let you and hold it. This will help you to finish your swing and add distance.

Over weight people who play golf benefit from the same exercises of the professional golfer. Using a short rod with a weight on the end start from the position of your stance and rotate to the left as far as you can then back to the beginning position and repeat 10 times, now repeat the same thing to the other side of your body. One week of this and you will be amazed how much farther you hit the ball and how much straighter.

You don't need a trainer to begin using golf specific exercises. and building muscles is not the intent of the exercises. This is by far the most misconceived idea.
By far the main reason why most still fear and avoid exercise for

Nobody would loathe building big muscles more than most lady golfers. Yet many of them have dramatically improved their games by increasing their strength through golf-specific exercises.
